Endowment Fund – Community Foundation

United Way of Ajax-Pickering-Uxbridge has formed a partnership with The Community Foundation of Durham Region to establish an Endowment Fund. The purpose of this fund is to provide long term stability for United Way to enable them to fund projects through their Community Initiatives Grant stream to provide support for grass roots organizations.

The Community Foundation of Durham Region encourages charitable giving by people who want to leave a lasting legacy to their community. It enables individuals, families, businesses, private foundations and non-profit organizations, through gifts and bequests, to establish permanent endowments under the umbrella of one large foundation. The capital remains untouched…only the investment earnings are distributed in grants to help the community respond to today’s problems, and meets the emerging needs and opportunities of the future.
